Farmers training programme held

Ukhrul, October 18 2022:
A farmers' training programme on 'Scientific Rearing of Pigs' was held today at Kharasom CV village, Jessami Block, Ukhrul District, Manipur.
The training programme was organised by Veterinary Department Ukhrul District, Manipur for marginalized farmers of 14 villages under Jessami Block.
Altogether 56 farmers participated in the training programme and 9000 doses of HS+BQ vaccine for cattle were distributed.
Speaking as the resource person, Dr N Bhubaneshwar Singh educated the participating farmers about low-cost scientific pig farming and highlighted the advantages of Bokashi piggery farming.

Meanwhile, Dr P Ajesh spoke at length about the selection of a farm site housing system with locally available material and management to raise pigs and provide shelter against inclement weather, prevent disease, control parasites and save labour.
Lastly, Dr LL Michael informed the gathering about common disease of pigs, their treatment, prevention and control measures and biosecurity.
