Indigenous wrestling championship from November 23

As a component of the upcoming Manipur Sangai Festival-2022, Senapati District Wrestling Association, Manipur (SDWAM) will organise the first state level "Manipur State Indigenous Wrestling Championship, 2022" from November 23 to 26.Addressing the media at its office, SDWAM general secretary RK Gideon stated that submission of application forms for the championship has already commenced from October 17 with Rs 1000 as the entry fee.
Informing that last date for submission of duly filled in application forms shall be on November 17, the secretary said venue for championship will be Senapati Mini Stadium and winners will be awarded Rs 1 lakh (First), Rs 70,000 (Second), Rs 50,000 (Third) and Rs 30,000 (Fourth prize) along with certificates.
Moreover, Rs 5000 each will be awarded to four consolation prize winners, the secretary said, adding that division of categories and oath taking will be held on November 21 and fixtures finalised on November 22.Highlighting that the previous open wrestling competition held in 2018 was participated by 200 wrestlers in light and heavy weight categories, the general secretary said over 200 wrestlers are expected for the Manipur State Indigenous Wrestling Championship-2022 which is likely to be inaugurated in the presence of chief minister N Biren Singh.
The championship will be conducted in heavy weight (65 kg and above) and light weight (below 65 kg) categories, the general secretary said, while advising interested wrestlers to contact its office at 9612447087/6009406331 for queries.
