15th Fortnight Barrier Free Campaign, 2022 launched

The 15th Fortnight Barrier Free Campaign, 2022 organised by the Handicapped Development (HD) Foundation, Manipur under the theme 'All the ways possible' kicked off yesterday.
The inaugural ceremony of the campaign was held at the Medical Directorate, Lamphelpat attended by Dr Y Gopalkrishna Singh, Additional Director of the Directorate of Health Services and Sapam Jasobanta Singh, Chairman of Handicapped Development Foundation.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Y Gopalkrishna Singh maintained that it is high time to overcome all forms of barrier between the masses and differently abled persons to bring in inclusive development.
While acknowledging the extraordinary and unique qualities of the differently abled persons, he appealed to all to extend all possible help to such persons for their upliftment and not to stigmatise them.
He also called for collective participation for the successful conduct of the campaign.
Sapam Jasobanta Singh while speaking at the event expressed that the condition of differently abled persons have improved considerably at present as compared to olden days.
He maintained that various schemes and measures have been taken up for the well-being of differently abled persons but stressed on the need to check that the benefits under such schemes are received by the genuine beneficiaries.
Considering the importance of the upliftment of differently abled persons, the foundation has been working earnestly to achieve the vision of an egalitarian society focussing on the rights of the differently abled persons, he added.
