Imphal, October 18 2022:
The JAC formed in connection with alleged rape of a student of Saina Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) has warned the Government of stringent agitations if all involved in the case are not arrested at the earliest.
At Press Club, Imphal this afternoon, JAC convenor Laishram Roshini said, even though some accused persons in the case have been arrested, the police are yet to arrest some teachers of SIMS "involved" in the case.
The police have not yet arrested four persons "involved" in the rape case, she said adding that the alleged rape case happened in mid August last.
Asking if the Government is protecting the persons involved in the case, she said, "Most importantly two female teachers are involved in the case and they are, without any care, active on social media.
They are without any fear.
Does this mean the Government is protecting them?" .
In addition, the police have not yet collected the clothes which the 25-year-old victim had worn during the incident.
While the police have not collected the clothes that could be crucial evidence, the other things they collected - a pair of shoes and a shirt have been returned to the family, she claimed.
The JAC along with the people will launch stringent agitations if all the persons involved in the case are not arrested at the earliest, she said.
