Hawkers are 'real warriors', says Nishikant

Keishamthong AC MLA Nishikant Singh Sapam has said that newspaper hawkers are the 'real warriors' who are making it possible for newspaper houses to connect with their readers.
Nishikant Singh Sapam made the remark while attending the 41st Hawkers' Day celebration held at Manipur Press Club today to mark the foundation day of the Manipur Hawkers' Association (MHA) and added that he would raise the need for providing a permanent office of MHA and launching of either a pension scheme or insurance scheme for hawkers of the State to the Chief Minister.
He also exuded confidence that the Chief Minister would give a positive response to the proposal.

Speaking at the programme, he added that as he has been running a newspaper house for quite some time, there is a special emotional connection between him and hawkers.
Lauding the work of all the hawkers, he added that it is due to their effort that newspaper houses are able to connect with their readers.
MHA president Wangkhem Ajit, in his speech, appealed to the Chief Minister to fulfill the promise he made at the Hawkers' Day celebration last year regarding launching of a pension scheme for retired hawkers.
He also appealed to all customers to pay their bills on time .
Vice Chancellor, DMU Prof N Rajmuhon also lauded the role played by newspapers and media in the society.
Floral tributes were also paid to the photographs of expired members and hawkers of MHA.
