JCC lifts ban on TRI activities, suspends stir

Joint Coordinating Committee of 13 CSOs and student bodies on Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Manipur & Its Functioning have lifted the ban on TRI activities and suspended all forms of proposed democratic agitations after assurance given during a joint meeting by Tribal Affairs and Hills minister Letpao Haokip to look into the matter and streamline the institute at the earliest in interest of tribal community.
In a release, JCC co-convener Chingdinliu Panmei said it had a meaningful discussion with TA&H minister Letpao Haokip who affirmed to the JCC to streamline the administrative system of the defunct-like situation of TRI, Manipur in the larger interest of the tribals of Manipur.
"In our limited capacity as tribal organisation, we, the JCC of 13 CSOs and student bodies of Manipur, will also extend all possible assistance in strengthening the only tribal research institute of the state," it said, while adding that they also look forward to the people-centric government of Manipur, led by chief minister N Biren Singh and dedicated bureaucrats of TA&H Department as well as the TRI, Manipur for their unwavering support in translating the demands into action.
JCC further mentioned that it will also meet from time to time and collectively work in cohesion consistently and pursue relentlessly to nurture convergence of the charter of demands as per the memoranda submitted to the CM, TA&H minister and TRI, Manipur director earlier.
