Two involved in hit-and-run case beaten up

Imphal, August 25 2022:
A mob beat two youths who came in a car and fled after hitting five other vehicles on Wednesday night.
After fleeing, their car met an accident at Palace gate.
The two youths involved in the hit-and-run case have been identified as Thingbaijam Lanthoi (20), son of Th Matum of Nongmeibung Pung and Kangabam Lewish (24), son of late Biramani of Bamon Leikai Bachaspatimayum Leirak.
Police source said that the two, who were in a white coloured Chevrolet Cruze (MN 05A 7460) were coming from Kongba side around 9.30 pm.
They first hit a Honda Plea sure and an auto-rickshaw in Wangkhei Yonglan Leirak area.
The rider of the scooter and driver of the autorickshaw sustained injuries.
As people nearby rushed to the spot, the car fled the scene towards Sanjenthong from where it took a U-turn and drove towards Palace Compound.
On the way, they also hit a Hyundai Creta, a Maruti Alto 800 and a Maruti Swift before ramming at the wall of a house located near Palace Gate.
Those who came chasing the car beat up the two occupants.
Later, police controlled the mob and took them to RIMS hospital.
A case has been registered at Porompat PS while the two youths are in bed rest at their respective homes.
