Farners' training programme launched

A State level farmers' training programme was launched by K Devdutta Sharma, Additional Director, Horticulture and Soil Conservation Department at Khuman Lampak Youth Hostel yesterday.
The training programme was launched to provide scientific training to farmers on how to increase the harvest of organic and high quality winter crops.
Notably, Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture organised the training programme under the aegis of Horticulture and Soil Conservation Department.
Around 500 progressive farmers selected by District horticulture Officers will participate in the training programme.
Yesterday, the launching event was attended by selected farmers from Imphal East and Imphal West.
Speaking on the occasion, Mission Director, K Devdutta stated that through this programme, farmers will not only receive winter seeds and saplings of various crops but they will be learn how to use new scientific technologies in their farming.
Further, he said that the farmers will also be given instructions on how to increase the yield of their winter crops organically without the use of fertilizers and taught about the various infestations that might affect the crops as well as how to take precautions against them.
K Devdutta maintained that the training programme was started with the objective of increasing the overall yield and making Manipur self-reliant in terms of food production.
He also urged farmers to register for the programme after consulting with their respective District Horticulture Officer.
It may be noted that this training programme will be launched in every district and will conclude on August 27 .
