SFs bust weapon-making factory

In a major achievement, a combined team of security forces comprising the district police and FGT BSF on Thursday busted a gun manufacturing factory at Chimtung village and recovered a huge cache of gun parts.
According to sources, the combined team acting on reliable inputs provided by FGT BSF Imphal regarding an illegal arms manufacturing factory at Chimtung village, New Lamka, Churachandpur and supplying manufactured illegal arms to some UG groups, conducted an operation around 11:50 am on Thursday.
The operation was carried out by the district police led by OC Churachandpur PS and staff of Field GT Imphal and troops of 113 Bn BSF led by its assistant commandant Bhagat Singh.
A search was conducted in the house of one Pauminlun Suantak, s/o late Hauthinlian Suantak of Chimtung Veng, Dorcas Road, New Lamka during which the security forces recovered one each local made single barrel gun, wooden gun butt, single barrel (small), firing pin unit (small), firing pin unit (bigger), single barrel (long) part, curve barrel part, trigger assembly, transactory (part) hammer unit, trigger unit, cocking pin/bridge block part, magazine, iron magazine block, ceiling carry (single), welding machine (Ideal), cutter machine, drill, air blower (Azad factory), five-speed bench drill, thick iron and one carpenter vice, as well as three trigger guards, two old type trigger units (musketry) , and two bench vices.
The security forces also conducted search operation around the village.
Mention may be made that the main culprit Pauminlun Suantak could not be found at his home at the time of busting the local gun manufacturing factory.
An FIR has been registered against the accused person.
In this connection, SP Churachandpur convened a press conference during which all the seized items were displayed.
The SP also informed that the main accused was on the run and security forces are making all efforts to arrest him.
