Heroin, opium & bundles of fake currency notes seized

Substantial quantities of heroin, opium and several bundles of fake currency notes have been seized from different places in separate incidents.
The police seized 1.56 Kg of heroin and another 10 Kgs of opium from different parts of the State in the last 24 hours.
A team of Kakching police seized 1.43 Kg of suspected heroin while conducting a frisking and checking drive along Indo- Burma-Sugnu road at Serou Lamkhai yesterday.
Reportedly, the suspected heroin was packed in 108 soap cases and brought in a Tata Sumo bearing Manipur registration number.
The occupants of the vehicle have been identified as Letsem Khongsai (46) s/o (L) Tilkhopao Khongsai of H Gamnom village, Chandel and Genkhopao Haokip (24) s/o Seikhojang Haokip of Songpijang village, Chura-chandpur.

As per sources, the suspected drug was purchased from Myanmar and was to be transported to Churachandpur.
The arrested persons have been handed over to Sugnu police station along with the seized drug.
In another instance, a team of Kakching police seized 127 grams of suspected heroin powder from near Kombirei English School, Phundrei Mayai Leikai in Thoubal yesterday.
The drug was seized from the possession of a teenager namely B Mustap (19) s/o Md Hakim of Moreh Muslim Nagar, Ward no 5 .
The heroin and the teenager have been handed over to Khongjom police station.
Meanwhile, another team of Kakching police seized 10 Kgs of opium from a 30 years old woman while checking passers-by on Sugnu-Chakpikarong road near Moltichan village junction today.
The opium was reportedly brought by Lunreilhing Baite w/o Thangkhogin Baite of Molngat village, Chandel.
She too has been handed over to Sugnu police station along with the opium.
On the other hand, a team of Imphal East police and commandos on Wednesday arrested a woman along with bundles of counterfeit currency notes from Urup Kangthak and later busted a fake currency note manufacturing unit at Keirao Litan Makhong.
According to sources, the combined team rushed to Urup Kangthak area and conducted a search operation at the residence of one Taslima (25) w/o Md Sabir Ali.
During the search, the police team recovered five soap cases containing heroin powder (60 grams approx), 3970 pieces of WY tablets, one Redmi phone, 26 bundles and 89 pieces of fake currency notes of Rs 500 denomination, 101 pieces of uncut Rs 500 fake currency sheets and packets of empty plastic vials.
The woman was arrested on the spot and the drugs and fake currency notes were seized by observing formalities at around 5.30 am yesterday, the source said.
On spot examination, Taslima disclosed that the counterfeit currency notes were printed with the help of Md Bocha (33) s/o (L) Md Ali of Kiyamgei Makha Leikai and Umar (24) s/o Md Jalal of Keirao.
In the follow up operation, Md Bocha was also arrested along with one soap case of heroin and 144 SP capsules from his residence at 6:30 am.
Further, the police team also arrested Umar and one Dell Laptop and a printer (EPSON) were recovered from his shop located at Keirao Litan Makhong at 6:50 am.
The arrested persons have been handed over to Irilbung police station along with the seized articles.
The Judicial Masgistrate First Class, Imphal East has remanded the trio to police custody till August 31 .
