JAC seeks help in tracing missing labourer

The JAC formed in connection with missing of Md Achouba (42), son of Md Jalaruddin of Kwakta Charangpat has appealed to the authority concerned and CSOs of the state to help in tracing the labourer, who went missing from a construction site of a water supply project in Ukhrul district on August 12.Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club here on Thursday, JAC convener Md Jaya Khan said that Md Achouba has been working in Ukhrul district on different projects for over four years.
Along with three other labourers, Achouba went to Huisu village in Ukhrul district for repairing of a water supply project on
July 14 .
The last time his family member had contact with him over the phone was on August 12 around 9.30 am.
During the conversation, he told his family that he would be completing construction of the Kalhang village church on that day.
On the next day, his family members tried to call him but his phone was found switched off.
Worried over the matter, they went to Ukhrul on August 16 and enquired about his location to his co-workers.
As they could not get a definite answer from them, they went to Ukhrul police station and filed a missing report.
However, police have not been able to trace him till date.
Consequently, the JAC submitted a list of people they have suspicions about possible involvement, Md Jaya Khan said, while drawing attention of the authority concerned and people of the state to help in finding the missing person.
He also warned of launching different forms of agitation if the authority fails to investigate the case properly and swiftly.
