Imphal, August 25 2022:
Chief minister N Biren chaired a meeting with top government officials and DCs at his secretariat office on matters related with effective implementation of Wetland Protection Act and conservation of forest and agricultural land as well as Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms Act 1960 on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the CM instructed the DCs not to collect any sort of tax outside their respective district jurisdictions.
The meeting mainly discussed the issue of district boundary issues, specially, the issue of overlapping bound aries arising due to corrupt practice of claiming scheme benefits.
The CM stated that the DCs concerned should be responsible for any issue arising out of such trans-jurisdictional tax collection.
He observed that there were incidents of adding some villages into another district due to political pressure.
The DCs should verify their jurisdiction with the official map and MLRLR Act and make their decisions accordingly.
