Thoubal CSOs demand resignation of State legislators, DGP and Security Advisor

Thoubal, January 18 2024: As the State machinery has failed to contain the relentless attack of Kuki narco-terrorists since May 3, Chief Minister N Biren Singh, DGP Manipur Rajeev Singh and Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh should promptly resign from their office, maintained Nongpok Sayang Apunba Lup (NSAL) .

Otherwise, NSAL, which is an apex body of clubs and organisations in Thoubal, is prepared to launch intense stirs in collaboration with the public, said the Lup.

NSAL president Laishram Ananda made the statement today during a condolence meeting held at the office of Social Economic And Development Organisation (SEDO) Yairipok Keithel to mourn the martyrs who laid down their lives for the motherland on January 17 .

Continuing further, he stated that as the State functionaries have failed to control the law and order situation in Manipur, DGP Rajeev Singh and Unified Command Chairman Kuldiep Singh should submit their resignation on moral grounds.

In addition, Chief Minister N Biren Singh should take appropriate action against the two aforementioned officials who do prioritize the public.

Failing which, the Chief Minister should also tender his resignation, he said.

In case these demands are not fulfilled, an all-out boycott of the Home Department will be imposed and movement of Home Department officials will be prohibited.

Additionally, the public will also launch other forms of democratic agitation, he stressed.

Separately, highlighting the failure of the State legislators to resolve the protracted conflict in the State brought on by unrestrained acts of violence perpetrated by Kuki narco-terrorists, CSOs, clubs and meira paibis of Thoubal have called for resignation of the State MLAs/Ministers.

Romeshwar W, president Thoubal Apunba Lup (TAL) made the demand while reading out the collective resolutions reached after the conclusion of a public discussion session of Thoubal CSOs held at Thoubal Achouba Community hall today.

The session was attended by representatives of TAL, Youth Frontal Organisation, Meitei Communities Joint Coordination Committee, 14 Clubs & Meira Paibi Co-ordinating Committee of 5 Villages (Charangpat, Icham Khunou, Bengi, Thokchom & Nepra Company) and meira paibis of the region.

The TAL president also paid his respects to the State Security Force personnel and village volunteers who were killed by Kuki militants at Moreh and Kangchup on behalf of the gathering.

In addition, he demanded immediate withdrawal of Assam Rifles from the State accusing them of operating with biases.

Demanding additional security forces, arms and ammunition for the State forces deployed at Moreh, the TAL president urged the State Government to cancel their plans to station BSF at Thoubal Ningombam and Athokpam.

Instead, he appealed for these Central Forces to be deployed in areas which are witnessing largescale violence and exchange of gunfire.

Lastly, Romeshwar W demanded immediate resignation of the State legislators who have failed to resolve the crisis even after eight months of protracted violence.
