MPSC, UCC make it to Luwangpokpa T-20 trophy semifinals

Imphal, January 18 2024:
MPSC and UCC were the first two teams to book semifinal berths of the 4th MNCA Luwangpokpa T-20 Trophy, following their quarterfinal wins on Thursday.
MPSC eased their way into the semifinals with a 66-run victory over KSDO at Lairenjam Public Ground, Imphal.
Asked to bat, MPSC managed 127/7 with scores from Sarangthem Shangker Singh (32), Gelson Singh Thoudam 22), Soubam Kingson Singh 27 not out), Taorem Jeem Singh (5 not out), Sagolsem Sunil Singh (5) and Chingangbam Lokeshwor Singh (1) .
Despite their below-par batting performance, MPSC emerged as dominant winners, thanks to their brilliant bowling display that ended KSDO's run chase in 14.5 overs for 61 .
Maibam Bijoykumar Singh was clearly the star perform in MPSC's bowling attack.
He scalped 5 wickets in his 2.5-over spell, conceding just 5 runs.
Sarangthem Shangker Singh did his bit with 2 wickets as Oinam Ro-jit Singh and Gelson Singh Thoudam took one wicket apiece in their comfortable quarterfinal triumph.
In KSDO's run chase, only Reehaj (23) and Abdul Rafique (12) managed to reach double figures.
Earlier, Lakimbur picked up 2 wickets while Shajahan, Khushru Pravez, Md Abdul Razaque, Tarique Aziz and Sangomshumpham Shah Nawaz bagged one wicket each for KSDO.
UCC, meanwhile, earned their place in the semifinals after beating Blue Hawk by 8 runs at Model Hr Secondary & Oriental College Ground, Imphal.
Put in to bat, UCC scored 122/7 as Sagolshem Nelson Singh (36 not out), Durgesh Sharma (20), Thokchom Yoihenba Singh (14 not out) and Haobam Ajitkumar Singh (12) got into double digits in their innings.
In the process, UCC lost 2 wickets each to Semson Singh Soibam, Jitendra Bishan Thakur and Samsung Meitei Heisnam.
In reply, Blue Hawk came up short in their chase despite playing all 20 overs as they stalled at 114/7 .
Some fighting efforts from Mintu Chandra (28) and Wakambam Samson Singh (25 not out) weren't enough.
For UCC, Laishram Bhuson Singh led the scalping with 3 wickets while Leishangthem Bishorjit claimed 2 wickets and Diamond Moirangthem chipped in with one in their quarterfinal victory.
