Imphal, January 18 2024:
Asserting that the situation in Manipur is turning from bad to worse and unwanted incidents increasing manifold, All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) has demanded removal of Kuldiep Singh as chairman of the Unified Command and hand it over to the state government.
Addressing media persons at the office of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur, Khoyathong, here, on Thursday, AMAWOVA general secretary Th Apabi said that the people of the state are well aware that unwanted incidents are happening uninterruptedly as Kuldiep Singh has failed miserably to control the law and order situation.
Ever since he was appointed as the chairman of Unified Command, unwanted incidents including killings of innocent people has been on the rise instead of declining.
If the present situation continues, it would be impossible for the state to return to normalcy, she said while adding that even killing of police personnel and inflicting injury on the state forces have been occurring unabatedly.
Alleging that Kuldiep Singh doesn't seem to be doing the much-needed work of controlling all unwanted incidents using all powers of the government, Apabi said people no longer have trust in his capability.
Therefore, there is the urgent need to remove him from the post of chairman of Unified command arid hand it over to the state government at the earliest.
