Imphal, January 18 2024:
Calling for all political parties to go to Delhi together to urge for removal of security advisor Kuldiep Singh for failing to maintain the law and order situation in Manipur; Shiv Sena Manipur Unit president M Tombi demanded the central government to clarify the reason for continuing to protect and standing on the side of the Kuki militants.
Addressing a press meet at Shiv Sena Manipur office, Babupara on Thursday, Tombi said that the conflict in Manipur since the past many months is getting more intense instead of abating.
The thousands of central forces deployed in Manipur are just standing by and watching the narco-terrorist wreak havoc in the state.
Despite being aware of the involvement of external aggression in the on-going conflict, unified command chairman Kuldiep Singh continues to remain passive.
The state government is unable to ask union home minister Amit Shah to remove Kuldiep Singh for being incompetent.
In addition, Amit Shah has not taken up any neutral action to calm and unite the two parties involved.
Comparing the present situation in Manipur as the Second Seven Years' Devastation, Tombi said that the people are suffering immensely.
However, instead of putting out the burning fire, Kuldiep is being partial to one side.
The police outpost in Moreh has been burnt down and state forces being killed and injured indiscriminately.
An audio clipping of the distressed statements of Moreh SP, which went viral, has broken the hearts of the people.
Amid this, the role of Kuldiep Singh and the central forces is a big question, he remarked.
Questioning why the central government is ignoring the powerlessness of the state government; Tombi further questioned what the central forces were doing when the Kuki militants from Myanmar were attacking the state forces.
At this time, almost everybody is ready to take up arms to defend the integrity and unity of Manipur left behind by the forefathers.
However, it does not seem like the conflict in Manipur will end anytime soon, considering how the central government is viewing and treating Manipur.
The party president then urged the state government to deploy additional forces to Moreh as soon as possible to fend off the Kuki militants from Myanmar.
He further urged for all political parties in Manipur to go to Delhi together to demand for removal of security advisor Kuldiep Singh and hand over the control of unified command to the state government.
Additionally, the centre should clearly state its reason for protecting and supporting the Kuki militants.
The government should also stop its "divide and rule policy" and refrain from bringing in the matter of elections into Manipur until the conflict is resolved.
Regardless of whether the central forces are present or not, the people and the state forces need to work together to defend the state, he opined.
With regard to the party members meeting the Governor on Wednesday, Tombi informed that a memorandum had been submitted to the Prime Minister and union home minister through the Governor requesting for fencing the Indo-Myanmar border, establishing a highway protection force, withdrawing the Suspension of Operation pact signed with Kuki outfits and handing over the chairmanship of unified command to the state government.
