ZUCM appeals

The Zeliangrong United Committee Manipur (ZUCM) has appealed to all concerned to observe the annual festival "Gan Ngai" beginning on January 23, 2024 in all parts of Manipur, Assam and Nagaland.
According to a release issued by Meibon Phaomei, president ZUCM, Gan Ngai is a unique ritual and traditional festival of Zeliangrong people and kindred communities which is celebrated for 5 days.
The ZUCM extended its tidings of Gan Ngai with special greetings and urged all to celebrate the Festival in a sanctified manner invoking Gods' blessings.
"Rituals recitals, hymns, with drums, libation (yu pan thaba/zouh pan keimei) and ritual based traditional practices like long jump, shot put, ho-hoing, (hoi laoba, hoi gamhmei) and homage paying to the departed souls during the year are the main events of the Festival'', it added.
ZUCM exhorted the participants of the festive events to observe mental and physical sanctity throughout the five day long Gan Ngai celebration.
Wishing all a happy and prosperous Gan Ngai festival, ZUCM said, "The indigenous faith of Zeliangrong (Rongmei/Kabui consanguineous groups) in Manipur state prescribes this annual Gan Ngai festival to be observed strictly in the religious manner for the restoration of peace and prosperity of human beings on earth" .
