Imphal, January 18 2024:
Acknowledging some instances of partiality on the part of certain sections of the central security forces deployed in the state, works minister Govindas Konthoujam on Thursday said that the state government strongly condemns such actions.
During a tribute ceremony held for rifleman Wangkhem Somorjit, who was killed in an attack by Kuki militants in Moreh, Govindas expressed unease about the sophisticated weaponry used in the attack on state forces.
Those war munitions used in the attack do not suit the narrative about village volunteers.
Highlighting the government's proactive measures, he mentioned the convening of a high-powered security meeting, ensuring provision of all necessary materials for security forces in Moreh, and the deployment of Para Commandos to address the situation.
He also stressed the need for transferring the power and chairmanship of the Unified Command to the Chief Minister for effectively tackling the crisis.
