Cricket: Ronel Singh nominated as zonal convenor for selection committee

Imphal, January 18 2024:
Leishangthem Ronel Singh, hon secretary MNCA, has been nominated by the North East State Cricket Associations through BCCI as zonal convener for North East Zonal Selection Committee, which will pick a 15-member squad to represent North East Zone team for the Sr Women's Inter-Zonal One Day Trophy 2023-24 to be played at Baroda from January 30 to February 9, 2024, the All Manipur Cricket Association (MNCA) informed in a press release on Thursday.
According to the release, Ronel Singh is the first-ever administrator from the MNCA to be assigned with the responsibility and authority to ensure that the selection committee not only choose the best players from the North East SCAs but a balanced team to represent North East Zone.
As the zonal convener, he is also being assigned to nominate five support staff for the team consisting of coach, physio, trainer, performance analyst and manager.
On his nomination as the zonal convener, Leishangthem Ronel Singh thanked leaders of the North East State Cricket Associations and BCCI for showing faith in him.
Leishangthem Ronel Singh, along with Lairenjam Geetranjan Singh, hon vice-president, Tommy Thingom, general manager, and Kshetrimayum Bijoy Singh, chairman women's selection committee, left Imphal on Thursday for the zonal selection meeting to held in Guwahati, the MNCA added.
