Bar and Bench team reaches out to conflict survivors

Imphal, January 18 2024:
As part of the ongoing voluntary initiative, the High Court of Manipur, High Court Bar Association of Manipur, Bar Council of Manipur and District Courts in collaboration with Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) today organised a 'Distribution of relief materials and interaction programme" at two relief camps in Imphal West district.

A release issued by Yumkham Rother, Registrar General, High Court of Manipur, informed that the programme was conducted by a team consisting of Justice Siddharth Mridul, Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur and other Judges of the High Court namely Justice A Bimol Singh, Justice A Guneshwar Sharma, Justice Golmei Gaiphulshillu Kabui; S Brajabihari Singh, Chairman, Bar Council of Manipur; Y Nirmolchand Singh, President, High Court Bar Association of Manipur; RK Memcha Devi, District & Sessions Judge, Imphal West; Yumkham Rother; Alek Muivah, Member Secretary, MASLSA; Kh Samarjit, Deputy Solicitor General of India; Rarry Mangsatabam, State Counsel and other members of the Bar and Bench.
The team jointly contributed & donated winter specific relief items at Lamboikhongangkhong Block A-E Manipur Trade Expo Relief Centre and Meitei Langol Relief Camp, Langol.
Y Nirmolchand Singh also handed over a sum of Rs 10,000 on behalf of the High Court Bar Association, Manipur to the relief camp at Langol.
While interacting with the conflict survivors taking shelter at the camp, the Chief Justice requested to submit the needs & grievances of the conflict survivors to the Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) attached to their camps under the District Legal Services Authorities in writing so that the same may be placed before appropriate authorities.
He also instructed the key officials of the District Administration and Social Welfare Department to look into the requirements of the camp inmates.
Further, as continuation of the same voluntary initiative taken up by the Bar & Bench, officials and staff of legal service authorities assisted in distributing relief materials at 8 relief camps in Bishnupur District today.
