Pherzawl gears up for Lok Sabha polls

Pherzawl, March 11 2024: District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner of Pherzawl Asish Das today convened a review meeting with the District Nodal Officers to ensure all arrangements are in place ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024.The review meeting emphasized on key arrangements including manpower management, availability of Assured Minimum Facility (AMF), transportation and airlifting of polling teams and security personnel for several polling stations, role of Sector Officers and Master Trainers among others.

The meeting also deliberated on various issues including challenging terrain, intermittent power and communication facilities.

During the meeting, DEO Asish Das instructed all officials to spare no efforts to ensure a free and fair election with high voter turnout.

Expressing that the forthcoming election poised to become Pherzawl's maiden electoral experience as a distinct district, the District Election Officer called upon all officials for strict compliance to Election Commission of India's (ECI) guidelines and uphold the principles of democracy.

The DEO also informed that weekly review meetings will be held to monitor progress and eliminate shortfalls.

It is worth noting that similar review meetings on election preparedness were held earlier wherein elaborate plans were made to ensure effective implementation of ECI's scheme for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of Manipur to vote at relief camps in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

SP Pherzawl T Lalboi Haokip, ADC Zosanglur Joute and DNOs of all the committees attended today's review meeting.
