Mirabai approved for Paris training ahead of Olympics

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS), through the Mission Olympic Cell (MOC), has approved weightlifter Mirabai Chanu's proposal to train at LA FERTE-MILON, Paris, in preparation for the upcoming Olympic Games.
Mirabai Chanu, the silver medallist in the Tokyo Olympics, will travel to Paris nearly a month prior to her Olympic event to adapt to the weather conditions and fine-tune her preparations for the mega event.
During the Paris training camp, Mirabai will be accompanied by two coaches and a physiotherapist.
The expenses for air tickets, visa costs, accommodation charges, food, training costs, local transport costs, medical insurance, and sauna charges, among others, will be covered under the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) funding.
In addition to Mirabai, MOC has also approved various proposals, including equestrian player Anush Agarwalla's participation in eight competitions and procurement of equipment for his horses.
The accommodation costs for Anush and his coach, entry fees, horse feed costs, coach fees, and horse groom costs, among others, will be covered under TOPS funding.
Moreover, financial assistance has been sanctioned for Judoka Asmita Dey to participate in the Grand Prix, Austria, and for shooter Arjun Singh Cheema's participation in the ISAS Dortmund Competition.
Newly inducted Indian Tennis player Sumit Nagal's request for financial assistance for two international competitions, along with support staff expenditures, has also been approved.
Their airfare, accommodation costs, coaching fees, physio/fitness coach/mental trainer fees, will be covered under TOPS funding.
Furthermore, MOC approved financial assistance towards hiring a video analyst for Badminton players Chirag and Satwik, extended the contract for weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga's physiotherapist, and provided financial assistance for track athlete Amoj Jacob to procure equipment.
These decisions, taken during the 126th meeting of MOC, aim to provide comprehensive support to Indian athletes as they prepare for international competitions, including the Olympics.
