Outreach programme on SVEEP : Importance of ethical voting highlighted

A one-day Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) on Systematic Voter's Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was organised by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Regional Office (RO), Imphal, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India at Apou Kading High School in Tamei Headquarters today.
G Pamei, Headmaster of the school while speaking on the occasion said that voters should be aware of the background of candidates and the manifestos of the political parties.
He further emphasized that one needs to be educated and vote for the right leader in order to build a strong society and for the development of the community, said a press note by CBC, RO, Imphal.
Dr Engam Pame, IIS, Regional Director informed the gathering that the right to vote is a constitutional right.
The people have the power to bring about a change in the society by electing a good leader.
He further added that the Election Commission bf India (ECI) would introduce a mobile application App namely cVlGIL(Citizens be vigilant) to enable users to report any election irregularities and violence promptly.
Speaking as the resource person, teacher of the school, Asibou Rengmunta elaborated and enlightened the gathering about ethical and informed voting.
He also spoke about EVM and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT), the responsibilities of presiding officer, voter's guide and the significance of democracy.
An on the spot quiz competition was also held and prizes along with certificates were handed over to the winners.
The program was also attended by LP Pamai, District Co-ordinator (IEM) and social workers S Rimai and M Chawang.
The release further informed that the CBC, RO, Imphal will continue to conduct and cover ICOP on SVEEP at Malek villages, Chaton II village and Takou village under Tamei Sub-Division in Tamenglong district.
