Pherzawl gears up for Lok Sabha polls

District Election Officer (DEO) cum Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Pherzawl, Asish Das, presided over a review meeting on Monday with District Nodal Officers to ensure comprehensive preparations ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha Election 2024.The review meeting focused on essential arrangements, including manpower management, availability of Assured Minimum Facility (AMF), transportation and airlifting of polling teams and security personnel for various polling stations, as well as the roles of sector officers and master trainers.
Discussions also featured challenges posed by the region's terrain and intermittent power cuts and communication backlogs.
During the meeting, DEO Asish Das urged all officials to spare no efforts in ensuring a free and fair election with a high voter turnout.
Recognising that the forthcoming election marks Pherzawl s inaugural electoral experience as a distinct district, the DEO emphasised on strict adherence to the Election Commission of India's (ECI) guidelines and the principles of democracy.
Das also announced weekly review meetings to monitor progress and address any shortcomings.
It is noteworthy that a similar review meeting on election preparedness was previously held, during which detailed plans were outlined to ensure effective implementation of the ECI's scheme for internally displaced persons in Manipur to vote at relief camps in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
The meeting was attended by SP (Pherzawl) T Lalboi Haokip, ADC Zosanglur Joute, and DNOs from all committees.
