AR honours brave-hearts at tribute event

Imphal, March 11 2024:
Assam Rifles of IGAR (South), organised wreath laying ceremonies to pay tribute to its fallen heroes.
One such ceremony was held for Subedar Sarwan Kumar Rana, Sena Medal (Posthumous), at Veng in Churachandpur district on Sunday.
Subedar Rana made the ultimate sacrifice during a counter insurgency operation on March 10, 2009, at Haijang village in Kangpokpi district.
Displaying extraordinary courage, he neutralised insurgents despite sustaining grievous injuries, demonstrating unparalleled dedication to the nation.
His son, rifleman Prince Rana, who also serves in the same battalion of Assam Rifles, also paid homage to his father's valour.
Additionally, a wreath laying ceremony was held to honour Lance Naik Padam Bahadur Su-nar at Sehlon in Chandel district.
Sunar displayed unwavering courage and dedication to duty during a battle with insurgents at Aizawl on March 11, 1966, holding his position until the last breath, thwarting the insurgents' advance.
Wreath laying ceremonies were also conducted at Sajik Lampak in Chandel district to commemorate the sacrifices made by rifleman Gaj Bir Pun at NEFA on March 11, 1962, and rifleman Gangabir Thapa at Tsugra in Nagaland on March 11, 1969, while battling insurgents.
Assam Rifles, in honouring the memory of these bravehearts, reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation, informed a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S) .
