Imphal, March 11 2024:
The armed outfit, Manipur Naga People's Front (MNPF) reportedly celebrated its 11th Raising Day on Monday at the outfit's general headquarters (GHQ), battalion headquarters and stations.
According to a statement of MNPF issued by its publicity secretary Thomas Numai, the 11th Raising Day celebration at GHQ was attended by chairman John Francis Kashung as chief guest, home secretary SP Kanmi as president and defence secretary Ruichumhao and publicity secretary Thomas Numai as guests of honour.
The statement also quoted chairman John Francis, as thanking the almighty God for successful celebration of the Raising Day, honouring party's flag and paying obeisance to the martyred revolutionaries in his speech.
He also thanked people of Manipur for encouraging the outfit to move forward in its revolutionary struggle.
While lamenting that the proxy war waged by Kuki since May 3, 2023 and the earlier Naga-Kuki clash led to loss of many precious lives and thousands rendered homeless, the MNPF chairman said that such unwanted incidents continue in WESEA as people of the region live like slaves under administration of India for a long time.
India has long been playing divisive tactics to destroy the unity of the people in WESEA, the statement claimed, and alleged that the present ethnic conflict in Manipur is part of the plot of India.
With further reference to the chairman's speech, the statement said both the warring communities, Meetei and Kuki, should collectively find a path sincerely to bring back normalcy in Manipur.
