Suspected Kuki militants burn down Meitei houses; Peace shattered at Kwatha Khunou

Imphal, March 11 2024:
Unknown persons suspected to be armed Kuki miscreants burnt down two abandoned houses belonging to the Meitei community at Kwatha Khunou, Tengnoupal district under Moreh police station late last night.
Earlier in the afternoon yesterday, unknown persons suspected to be Kuki militants set fire to a plot of land belonging to one Iboyaima at Kwatha Khunou, located around 10 Kms away from Imphal-Moreh highway, sources said.
Again at around 7 pm, unknown armed miscreants suspected to be Kuki militants burned down two houses belonging to Laishram Iraboton and Wahengbam Budha of Kwatha Khunou.

Locals of the area rushed to the spot and tried to prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring houses/structures and put it out.
Later, the fire was put out by the locals in the wee hours and there was no report of any injury because of the incident, the sources said.
A combined team of Tengnoupal district police, BSF and Assam Rifles personnel under the command of Md Riyajuddun, Additional SP, Tengnoupal inspected the arson site.
After inspecting the site, the combined team went to neighbouring K Molphai village and enquired about last night's incident.
