As part of its ongoing humanitarian assistance to conflict-affected people, an LMG team visited the families, provided essential aid and observed a minute's silence praying for the departed souls to rest in peace.
The team was led by vice president Chongtham Jibanlata and included secretary Ojit Sorokhaibam, publicity secretary Rakesh Naorem, assistant secretary.
Surendra Ningomba, treasurer Kunjeshwar Mangsatabam and other members.
Speaking on the sidelines, Ojit Sorokhaibam said, "Since the war waged by Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists against Meetei communities from May 3, 2023, many people have been displaced and are living in relief camps" .
"We share the grief of the families of the three deceased who were inhumanely killed while they had gone to the hills to collect firewood for their livelihood.
It is painful to imagine the future of the children and wives left behind.
Families already .reeling under poverty are now faced with the loss of their breadwinners.
We pray for the departed souls to rest in peace", he added.
Meanwhile, Film Forum Manipur, Apunba Manipur Matam Eshei Kanglup (AMMIK), Manipur State Shumang Leela Council and All Manipur Performing Artist Community also visited the bereaved families to share their grief.
Film Forum Manipur Chairman Samjetsabam MangoIjao said the Manipur Government is responsible for the deaths as the villagers had gone to collect firewood from the hills after the Government declared that there is peace in the State and free movement is allowed without restriction.
He said seeing the condition of the houses of the deceased was heartwrenching and urged that necessary measures be taken to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
AMMIK president Shamurailatpam Nabachandra Sharma said visiting the bereaved is not a joyous journey.
Those suffering due to the conflict till today are mostly the poor who depend on daily wages, which is unfortunate, he said.
"People who are wealthy and live in comfort in safer places do not face such pain and untoward incidents.
Therefore, to build an egalitarian and developed society, extend possible help to the villagers living in the foothills.
We also appeal to the Government to pay special attention and extend possible help to the bereaved families", he said.
Shumang Leela artist Sougrakpam Hemanta said the condition of the families is heartbreaking as the death of the breadwinners has added to their misery, leaving behind many young children.
He appealed to the Government and concerned authorities to extend all possible help to the families.
