Imphal, October 25 2026:
The Foothills Naga Co-ordination Committee (FNCC) has expressed its appreciation to the Government of Manipur and Chief Minister Y Khemchand for "their continued efforts to address security challenges, strengthen the rule of law and promote peace and stability across the State" .
FNCC, in a press note, acknowledged the joint security operation conducted at Sinai camp, Semol Village, under Saikul police station in Kangpokpi, involving the Manipur Police, the Quick Action Team (QAT) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) which resulted in the arrest of 17 individuals allegedly impersonating as cadres of Kuki militant groups under the Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact and the recovery of firearms, ammunition, explosives and other material.
The Committee also noted the arrest of three suspects in connection with the killing of three firewood collectors and injuries to others at Sunurok Hill on October 19 during a search operation at S Phailenkot and adjoining areas.
FNCC expressed hope that the ongoing investigation will establish the facts objectively and that appropriate legal action will follow in accordance with the law.
At this critical juncture, the Committee emphasised the importance of impartial law enforcement, institutional accountability and respect for due process.
Saying that sustainable peace cannot be achieved through security measures alone, it added that mutual understanding, public confidence and the protection of all communities without discrimination are also required to restore normalcy in the State.
