Imphal, October 26 2026:
The Meitei Alliance (MA) has commended the Manipur Government and Director General of Police (DGP) for the joint operation conducted at the Sinai Camp following the killing of Meitei villagers who were collecting firewood.
In a press statement, the Alliance said that the operation was an important step towards restoring peace and upholding the rule of law in Manipur.
The Alliance stated that the people of Manipur had endured nearly three and a half years of violence, killings and displacement, amid allegations that Kuki armed groups operating under the SoO agreement had acted with impunity.
It said the prolonged absence of decisive action had created a deep trust deficit between the public and the security establishment.
Welcoming the operation at Sinai Camp, the Alliance said such actions could strengthen public confidence in the justice system and provide hope to thousands of internally displaced persons (IDPs) still living in relief camps.
The Alliance urged the State Government and the DGP to extend similar operations to all remaining SoO militant camps without waiting for further attacks or loss of innocent lives.
It maintained that disarming militants and bringing those responsible for violence to justice are essential for achieving lasting peace.
The Alliance also expressed concern that fear of armed intimidation and reprisals continued to prevent ordinary citizens from speaking freely and pursuing reconciliation.
It said removing this climate of fear would enable communities and their leaders to rebuild relationships and work collectively towards peace.
The Alliance expressed confidence that sustained and decisive action by the State Government and security forces could pave the way for justice, security and reconciliation in Manipur.
