Meira Paibis appeal to stop bid to create communal discord

Imphal, October 26 2026: Meira Paibis of Itham, Moirangpurel, Tumukhong and Laikhong have appealed for an immediate halt to attempts to create misunderstanding between Tangkhul and Meetei communities by circulating edited video clips of an October 20 incident at Itham Moirangpurel on social media.

They also appealed to the Government to block such accounts spreading false propaganda.

Addressing a press meet held today at Itham, Sairia Leima Moirangthem, secretary of the Apunba Meira Paibis of Tumukhong, Itham, Moirangpurel and Laikhong, said some people are trying to create enmity between Meetei and Tangkhul by circulating edited clips of a video of an incident that occurred due to misunderstanding and miscommunication a few days back in the area.

She said it is unfortunate that attempts are being made to create misunderstanding and to defame the two Tangkhul individuals seen in the video clip.

She said such attempts to create discord among communities in the present volatile situation in Manipur should not be taken lightly by the Government.

She appealed to the Government to block social media accounts spreading such false propaganda.
