Hunt down 'absentee' SoO cadres: COCOMI to Govt

Imphal, October 26 2026:
The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has asked the Government to hunt down all those Kuki militants who were supposed to stay put in Sinai camp but were found absent.
For the past three years, people have pointed out repeatedly that the violence raging in the State since May 3, 2023 could be brought to an end once the SoO militants are contained, COCOMI said in a press release.
Though late, the Government inspected the Sinai camp following the brutal killing of three innocent civilians at Khongbal Sunurok and it was found that none of the cadres except one who were supposed to be inside the camp were found absent.
This is an undeniable testimony of the fact that SoO cadres are behind the prolonged violence and unrest seen in the State, COCOMI asserted.
It said that the Government must conduct surprise raids at all designated camps of Kuki militants and check whether they are complying with the SoO ground rules.
Even though the Government was claiming repeatedly that it was working hard to restore peace and normalcy in the State, very little was done on the ground.
It is this inconsistency or disconnect between what the Government claims and what it does that is subjecting the people to such extreme misery for a prolonged period, COCOMI said.
In addition to these Kuki narco-terrorists, the Central Government has been giving a free hand to proxy forces based in Myanmar.
All these acts of cross border terrorism must be brought to an end immediately, it said.
There is no other country in the whole world which uses proxy forces against its own citizens.
The Government of India must review its security policy immediately, the committee said.
The incumbent Government must know that the people of Manipur strongly resent the practice of formulating security policies based only on the feedback provided by
Central security forces, it said.
