Imphal, July 07 2023:
Taking strong exception to the constant attack on important places of worship and religious sites for Meeteis, the Umanglai Kanba Apunba Lup (UKAL) has decided to launch a mass movement against the Kuki narco- terrorists.
Addressing the media at Palace Compound today, UKAL spokesperson Mutum Maniton said that the Kuki militants deliberately attacking Meeteis and their religious sites is the work of terrorists.
Saying that the Kuki militants have also attacked the sacred site of Meitei at Kongba Maru under Sagolmang police station in Imphal East, he said that UKAL could no longer tolerate the excesses of Kuki militants.
Maniton asked why the Central Government and the Governor are still not taking up any feasible action to control the violence in Manipur.
Further asking why the Government didn't take any action against the Kuki militants for violating the ground rules of the Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact, he asked whether the Government at New Delhi really want the extinction of Meeteis.
UKAL and the people of Manipur will face the narcoterrorists who target the birthplace of the indigenous people even without the assistance of the Centre, he said.
Continuing that the Kuki militants could never occupy the sites which are dear to the indigenous people and they will rebuild everything again, Maniton urged the Centre to not take sides.
He further said that UKAL will hold a mass public meeting shortly pertaining to the constant attack on the religious sites and places of worship by Kuki militants and take some concrete actions.
He claimed that Kuki militants have so far burnt down and vandalised over 31 religious sites.
