Governor visits relief camps

Governor Anusuiya Uikey visited relief camp opened at Manipur Trade and Expo Centre, Lamboikhongnangkhong in Imphal West district today and interacted with the displaced people.
Altogether 548 displaced people including 157 children from Kangpokpi, Kakching and Churachandpur districts are taking shelter in the camp.
The Governor heard about the grievances and hardships faced by the people and assured them to extend all possible help at the earliest, said PRO Raj Bhavan in a statement.
She asked the Deputy Commissioner to submit a detailed report of what facilities are being provided to the displaced people in the camp.
Enquiring the facilities in the camp, the Governor asked the district administration to provide television sets, clothes, baby food and consumables for women and children and also asked to start yoga sessions for the people.
She also directed the district administration for providing every single need of school going children in the camp, the PRO said.
As an immediate relief to the people, a sum of Rs.1000 (one thousand) will be given to each family in the camp on Monday.
It will take time to settle the ongoing issue and all our efforts are being made by the Central and State Governments, she said.
The Governor appealed to all stakeholders to come forward for talks in bringing normalcy and peace in the State as usual through peaceful and amicable dialogue.
