Imphal, July 07 2023:
Stating that Manipur is facing an existential crisis, the People's Resurgence and Justice Alliance (PRJA) has urged all the political parties, civil society organisations, meira paibi lups and local clubs to unite and present a united front to overcome the crisis.
In a statement, PRJA also said that the political class must show vision to end the conflict and ease the pain and suffering of the common people.
Saying that the idea of Manipur as a multi ethnic and diverse State is under attack, the Alliance contended that some people thinking of bifurcating or even trifurcating the State along ethnic lines must realise that Manipur is not Germany of 1940s.It further stated that any attempt to disintegrate the State is bound to fail.
If the idea of Manipur as a multi ethnic State fails then the idea of India as a multi ethnic, multi racial diverse country will also fail, PRJA opined and added that the idea of India is its diversity which is also the same for Manipur.
The unprovoked and unprecedented attack on the Meiteis is devoid of any logic, the Alliance said and continued that the Meeteis are also being attacked by cross border terrorists. The situation in Manipur is not just a law and order prob-lem but also a case of external aggression, it said and asked the Ministry of Defence to drive out the cross border terrorist groups.
Sabotaging water pipes, blocking National Highway-2 for two months and firing on farmers are crimes against humanity, PRJA observed and cautioned that giving separate administration after such provocations will set a very bad precedent.
If separation administration is given after every communal conflict, India will have thousands of separate administrations, the Alliance said.
Claiming that the conflict in Manipur has an international dimension, PRJA said that India's foreign policy to counter the Chinese in its neighbourhood has led India to use the Kuki-Chin terrorist organisations, emboldening the Kuki--Chin terrorists to unleash terror on the indigenous people Saying that these terrorist groups should be controlled bring peace in Manipur, the Alliance claimed that it is the successive Central and State Governments which allowed the terrorist groups to grow and become powerful.
It further claimed that there are more than 20 such groups ready to attack the indigenous people.
