"Replacing CM must to restore peace"

Five MPs of CPI and CPI-M, who are on a three-day state visit, said that peo-ple of Manipur have lost trust in chief minister N Biren and replacing him as CM is a must to restore peace in the state.
The delegation comprising Bikashranjan Bhattacharya John Brittas, Binoy Viswam, Sandosh Kumar P and K Sub-ba Rayan called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Friday afternoon at Raj Bhavan.
Interacting with the me-dia after the meeting, the CPI delegation said that they held discussion with the Governor on the restive situation and ways to restore peace in the state.
There is a strong need for confidence building process and it will need N Biren vacating the office of CM as the people no longer trust him.
He should take responsibility and step down in order to pave way for restoration of peace, they insisted.
They also informed about walking out of the parlia-mentary panel meeting as the ruling party refused to discuss the Manipuri issue.
After meeting with displaced people and key stakehold-ers during their visit, they will submit a report to the union home minister, they said while terming the si-lence of the Prime Minister as unfortunate.
Rajya Sabha MP Bi-kashranjan Bhattacharya said that they urged the Governor to take up nec-essary measures to restore peace in the state.
They also stressed the need for forming a committee with responsible political leaders to initiate peace process.
Trust and confidence should be instilled among both communities, the MP team stressed while urging the Governor to take proactive role in this regard.
The Governor also assured her best efforts in controlling the situation and restoring peace, he added.
