Nagaland team visits Kangpokpi, Senapati; MBC grateful

The concerned cit-izens from Nagaland, who arrived here on Thursday to pray for peace and harmony in Manipur, visited Kangpokpi and prayed for peace on the same day.
The team also visit-ed Senapati and prayed there.
The 30-member team from Nagaland prayed for peace and harmony in Manipur and also offered their services in the efforts to bring peace in the state.
The team led by reverend Dr Wati Aier was welcomed by Interfaith Forum for Peace and Harmony, Manipur (IF-PHM) on their arrival at Ma-nipur Press Club, here.
The team came with a note "We as neighbours offer our friendship and solidarity" jointly signed by Nagaland Joint Christian Forum, Na-galand (NJCFN) vice presi-dent reverend Dr N Papino; Fellowship of Naga Baptist Churches, Kohima (FNBCK) vice president reverend Dr Vevo Phesao; and Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) convener reverend Dr Wati Aier.
The team from Nagaland also interacted with the peo-ple from Imphal, Kangpokpi and Senapati.
Meanwhile, Manipur Baptist Convention (MBC) expressed gratitude to the Nagaland delegation for their care and concern for people of Manipur.
In a letter addressed to the Nagaland forum, Fellowship of Naga Baptist Churches and Forum for Naga Reconcilia-tion, general secretary K Losii Mao said MBC is deeply moved by the concern shown by the Nagaland church bodies for those who lost their loved ones, properties and rendered homeless due to the spiral-ling violence that is dividing neighbours, friends and corn-munities in Manipur.
The general secretary said that after interacting with media persons at Manipur Press Club, the visiting del-egates prayed for peace in Manipur and proceeded to Kangpokpi to meet with the church leaders and displaced people and appealed to choose restraint over revenge by all.
In the letter, the MBC thanked the visitors for their offer of friendship and soli-darity thereby reassuring the people of Manipur that they are not alone at this time of suffering, pain and loss.
It mentioned that MBC has been profoundly encouraged by their commitment to end the escalating violence and the appeal to give peace a chance.
