Imphal, July 07 2023:
The Coordinating Committee on Manipui Integrity (COCOMI) has came out strongly against the allegec excesses meted out to womenfolk during the protest taken out in connection with the killing of a boy in the wee hours today.
The brutal and cowardly acts denote that the Govemmeni of India does not consider the State's citizens as its own said COCOMI in a statement.
It is high time for the world to review if India, which claims to be the world's largest democracy, is really a democratic Nation, it said.
India is among the list of world's largest and powerful security forces and many are deployed in nook and comei of Manipur in the name of controlling law and order situation but without any effect, it said.
Manipur became a part of India with a very controversial merger agreement in Shillong in 1949.And disrespecting the contents of the signed agreement, Manipur became a part-C State until attaining Statehood in 1972 after widespread protests, it noted.
What comes to everyone's mind these days is whether the Government of India is really considering Manipur an Indian State and the citizens as their own since the State Government's power has been curtailed and federal structure has been overridden, COCOMI asked.
The Central forces, mainly AR, in the name of security and maintenance of peace, have been mistreating the civilians while providing logistic support to the narco-terrorists in unleashing terror on indigenes, it said.
The act of denying State forces today at Kwakta from aiding civilians who were under attack from Kuki militants has made it clear that Manipur has been put in a position of a colonial State, COCOMI charged.
The dastardly acts of the Central forces are very condemnable and such acts do not exist even in lawless places.
COCOMI won't tolerate similar incidents, it said while warning of a legal action and a massive protest to root out Assam Rifles from the soil of Manipur.
