Thoubal, September 01 2023:
Phambei has declared the period from September 3 to 21 as Black September and appealed to all sections of the society to support the series of programmes taken up by them during the period.
Addressing the media at Heirok Part-II Umang Laikol today, Phambei spokesperson Ningthouja Lancha said that people will offer tributes to all the Meiteis killed amid the conflict on the first day of Black September period in every locality.
Ningthou Lancha appealed to every family and educational institution to hoist black flags at their respective places during the Black September period as a mark of protest against rendering thousands of Meiteis refugees in their own home State.
Saying that Phambei will also meet political and CSO leaders during the September 3 to 21 period to take a solid resolution on Manipur's integrity, Ningthouja Lancha said that unity of people is indispensable to protect the land and resources of Manipur as the Government has failed to deliver the aspiration of the people.
He then sought cooperation from the people to make their movement successful.
Saying that the Government hasn't done anything tangible to end the violence in Manipur, Ningthouja Lancha added that the role of Central forces amid the violence is also questionable.
