Imphal, September 01 2023:
A large section of the State's womenfolk has launched a 'People's Disobedience Movement' today and asked all employees of Central Government and State Government to stop attending office.
Speaking to media persons at Uripok Khoisnam Leikai today where many women leaders and representatives from different localities were present, Committee on Mass Protest Against Assam Rifles member Sharmila Naosekpam decried that neither the State Government nor the Central Government has been paying due attention to the violent crisis besieging Manipur since May 3 .
Kuki militants and their supporters have been driving out Meitei people from their houses by opening fire including bombs and setting houses on fire every single day.

Kuki militants have already killed many innocent Meitei villagers, she said.
In the meantime, Kuki MLAs and Ministers have been demanding a separate administration with a sinister objective to disintegrate Manipur, Sharmila said.
Notwithstanding the State's critical situation and the people's persistent demand to hold an Assembly session in order to discuss the burning issue and adopt a resolution to protect Manipur, the State Assembly recently held a session just for name's sake which lasted for only around 11 minutes.
It is a matter of grave concern that the State Government did not bother to discuss even one single aspect of the protracted crisis on the floor of the House, she said.
As both the Central Government and the State Government have shown little respect to the people's voice, citizens need not obey the Government, she asserted.
"Hence, we have decided to launch a people's disobedience movement from today", she continued.
As a part of the movement, employees of both the Central Government and the State Government should stop performing Government duties.
If any Government employee is found attending office in defiance of the people's call, they should be held accountable for any untoward incident resulting thereof, Sharmila warned.
However, electricity, water supply, medical, finance, solid waste management and other departments related with essential services would be exempted from the purview of the people's disobedience movement.
Moreover, movement of Central forces/paramilitary forces and Government vehicles would be forbidden, she added.
