Khwairamband to shut today

Strongly condemning the acts of terror unleashed by Kuki militants and their supporters who use not only automatic rifles but also heavy weapons and bombs and inflicted a number casualties to Meitei people at Naranseina and Thamnapokpi in Bishnupur district during the last couple of days, women vendors of Khwairamband have decided to shut down the market and its adjoining areas tomorrow (Saturday) .
Speaking on behalf of the vendors of the four women market complexes of Khwairamband, Huirem Binodini said that the four markets and the surrounding shops would cease their normal activities tomorrow.
She said that the women vendors of Khwairamband were shocked and deeply hurt by the recent unrestrained aggression of Kuki militants who bombarded Meitei people at Naranseina and Thamnapokpi.
"We condemn the vicious aggression in the strongest terms", she said.
Condemning the Kuki militants' vicious aggression and expressing solidarity to the victims, markets and shops of Thangal Keithel, Paona Keithel, Nagamapal and Uripok will remain shut tomorrow, Binodini said.
