One returns from Myanmar, 8 Meeteis in AR relief camp

Imphal, July 18 2023:
A total of eight Meetei people, whose houses were torched on May 3, are currently taking shelter in the relief camp of 5 Assam Rifles at Moreh.
Among the displaced persons include two men, five women and a five-year old girl.
One of the men namely Paonam Akash Meitei, who fled to Myanmar and had been seeking refuge in Tamu since May 3, managed to reach a 5 AR post few days back and is currently at the relief camp of 5AR .
When the violence started on May 3, some Meetei people crossed to Myanmar while many others rushed to 5 AR camp for safety.
Though many have managed to return back, some Meetei people are still in Myanmar's Tamu town.
