Imphal, July 18 2023:
Manipur State Power Distribution Company Ltd (MSPDCL) general manager (Commercial) M Rabi has appealed to the people against illegal usage of electricity, to recharge prepaid connections and clear all outstanding postpaid dues, thereby helping MSPDCL to serve the people effectively.
Addressing the media at Manipur Press Club here Tuesday, Rabi said that since the ethnic violence began on May 3, MSPDCL has been trying its level best to provide electricity to the people as regularly as possible.
Officials of the Company are aware of the difficulties faced by the people and those staying in relief camps if the power were to go out amid the prevailing crisis.
However, MSPDCL is also facing a huge challenge in clearing the pending bills for purchasing electricity.
Manipur does not have its electricity generation system and as such, has to purchase from CPSU Company outside the state, which is then supplied to the people.
The total revenue has now gone down by 50 per cent due to the clashes.
Thus, he appealed to the people not to use electricity illegally, to recharge pre paid connections and to clear all outstanding post-paid connection dues at the DC offices concerned where internet is available.
