30 pulled up for Kwakeithel arson : PCR

Imphal, July 18 2023:
In connection with the attack carried out by a mob against IGP (Zone-II) Kabib K and his escort personnel at Kwakeithel last night, 30 persons have been arrested, conveyed a press release issued by the Police Control Room (PCR) .
It said that raids will continue to apprehend more people involved in the particular incident.
All the 30 persons arrested so far were produced before a Duty Magistrate, Imphal West this evening.
Of the 30 individuals, four were released by the Court as they happen to be juveniles.
The other 26 were remanded in police custody for four days till July 21 .

While the police are working round the clock to bring normalcy in the State, it is expected of the public to abide by and cooperate with the police authorities, it said.
The PCR has also appealed to the public not to pose obstacles to the movement of security forces and in carrying out their official duties.
Legal action would be taken up in case of any deviation and obstruction, it warned.
On the other hand, one security force personnel sustained pellet injury and was evacuated to 9 Assam Rifles military hospital as armed miscreants fired in Torbung area near Kangvai in the intervening night of July 17 and 18 .
Further, two houses were torched at Phougakchao Mamang Leikai by armed miscreants before security forces retaliated the firing and repelled the miscreants, it said.
Meanwhile, State Police and Central forces conducted search operations at vulnerable and fringe areas of both the valley and hill districts, and three arms and six ammunition were recovered from Imphal East.
One bunker was also dismantled, said the PCR.
It also appealed to the general public to extend all possible help in bringing normalcy in the State, to clarify any rumour by dialling 'rumour-free number'-9233522822, and to return and deposit arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or security forces immediately.
