Imphal, July 18 2023:
A joint team of Army and Assam Rifles on Tuesday restored road connectivity between Ai-mol-Waroiching and New Keithel-mambi to Bungte Chiru which were damaged by miscreants on Sunday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the approach road from New Keithel-mambi to Bungte Chiru was disrupted as the bridge at Wainem Village was damaged and dug up by miscreants.
The miscreants also dug up the road connecting Aimol-Waroiching with a JCB and removed several panels from the iron bridge at Wainem village, the PRO informed, adding that, the road and the bridge were unfit for movement of any vehicles thus causing hardship to the locals.
Responding to requests, a joint team of Army and Assam Rifles swiftly reacted and liaised with locals to make a JCB available for the repairs, the PRO stated, adding that the JCB was escorted to the location and the dug up portion effectively filled up.
Similarly, the dislodged panels of the bridge were restored to make the bridge fit for plying vehicles.
The endeavour will not only facilitate faster transportation of relief material or unhindered movement to villages of Wainem, Aimol and Bungte Chiru but will also facilitate faster operational response by security forces, the PRO maintained.
