AITUC/MSC urges PM, HM to secure highways

Imphal, January 18 2024:
All India Trade Union Congress (AI-TUC) Manipur State Committee submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister and the Union home minister demanding establishment of Highway Protection Force for safeguarding the two National Highways namely NH-2 and NH-37 .
In a release, AITUC/MSC general secretary L Sotinkumar informed that the memorandum urged for protecting the lives of transporters, drivers and helpers of drivers operating along the National Highways and ensure free passage of vehicles carrying passengers and essential commodities.
While condemning the killing of two police personnel and injuries inflicted upon others by Kuki militants, he denounced that the PM as well as the Union home minister remained as silent spectators and unconcerned.
Moreover, security advisor Kuldiep who is chairman of the unified command of security forces, is very ineffective in controlling the volatile situation.
As such, it is the need of the hour to bring about political solution to the crisis, he demanded.
