Imphal, February 18 2024:
The ethnic violence raging since May 3, 2023 will bring no gains except bloodshed and only a political solution through talks involving all stakeholders could bring an end to the crisis, stated state unit president of National People's Youth Front (NPYF) Laitonjam Jayananda.
Addressing media persons at NPYF Khurai block office on Sunday, L Jayananda said National People's Party (NPP) believes in political solution to the present crisis and accordingly NPYF will strive for ending the crisis amicably.
Necessary actions in this regard will be initiated after meeting party president Conrad Sangma for which a five-member team of NPYF standing committee will visit Shillong.
NPYF will also meet party leaders and legislators of the state and discuss course of actions to be taken up to bring political solution to the crisis, he added.
According to L Jayananda, political solution is the only means to end the violence but political talks with only the warring communities would not bring any positive outcome as involvement of other communities settling in the state is also essential.
If the government strides towards holding political talks, it would be the right step if all the indigenous, communities of the state are made stakeholders in the talks, he said.
