Imphal, February 18 2024:
The National People's Youth Front or NPYF has appealed to the State Government to hold a political dialogue with the representatives of 34 communities residing in Manipur and work out a solution to the protracted violence besieging Manipur.
NPYF is a youth wing of National People's Party (NPP) which supports the BJP led Government.
An executive committee meeting of NPYF Manipur was convened today at Khurai Konsam Leikai with its president Laitonjam Jayananda in the chair.
Conveying what was discussed during the meeting to the media, Jayananda said that they have been doing whatever they can to protect Manipur by taking suggestions from senior party leaders till today.
Today's meeting resolved to prepare an action plan and work along with people amid the ongoing conflict in Manipur, he added.
Saying that youth have been fighting against those who want to break the State apart and many of them got martyrdom, Jayananda said that many of these youth who have voluntarily guarding Meitei villages have faith in their ideology.
NPYF will do whatever they can to restore peace and normalcy in the State, he said.
Saying that only a political solution can end the conflict in Manipur as per many experts whom they have met in the course of violence, Jayananda asked the BJP Government to let them know if they support the demand being raised by a section of people to eliminate all Kuki narco-terrorists.
Has the Government ever considered holding political dialogue to end the conflict, he asked.
Jayananda, meanwhile, said that a five member team of NPYF will head to Meghalaya and meet party president Conrad Sangma to discuss Manipur violence.
