AR averts fire incident in Chandel diistrict

Assam Rifles of IGAR (South) helped avert a major fire incident at Saibol Joupi village close to the Indo-Myanmar border, in Chandel district on February 16.According to a PRO IGAR (S) release, after a major fire broke out, presumably from short circuit at Saibol village around 7.30 pm on February 16 and the inferno spread to adjacent houses, the sentry raised the fire alarm resulting in security forces' fire-fighting party immediately launching operation to rescue the civilians trapped inside the burning houses and to bring the blaze under control.
Due to the swift action and selfless courage displayed by the Assam Rifles, the fire was brought under control after one hour of laborious effort and the major loss of life and property was averted, the PRO said, adding that around 8-10 persons trapped inside the houses were rescued while two burn patients were brought to the medical room for treatment by the Medical Officer, There were about 25 houses in the vicinity and with the precise efforts of the forces, 22 houses were saved from further damage consequently evoking praises from the villagers for the timely efforts in saving life and property.
