Imphal, February 18 2024:
There have been reports of some indigenous communities residing in Moreh town of Tengnoupal district and along Kamjong district, doing business with Chin-Kuki-Zo people to bring in various goods into the state.
This is indirectly helping the Chin-Kuki-Zo who are trying to disintegrate Manipur.
As such, members of all indigenous communities of the state must stop doing any business or trade with Chin-Kuki-Zo immediately, appealed Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) Manipur.
In a release, FOCS said that Chin-Kuki-Zo not only displaced thousands of Meetei families, but also caused the death of many.
Many youths, who are the future pillars of the society and had come forward to defend the motherland, have been killed mercilessly.
Apart from these, the Kuki-Chin-Zo extremists have been tormenting the state forces deployed in Moreh by prohibiting the shops from selling any food or daily essentials to the forces.
The release continued that the prolonged conflict has severely affected the economy of the state, putting immense difficulties on all indigenous populace.
However, some members of the indigenous communities have been doing businesses with Chin-Kuki-Zo residing along the Indo-Myanmar border, which, in turn, is benefitting the enemy instead.
Thus, the Federation appealed to all concerned to halt the businesses immediately and not sell out the state for some meagre amount of money.
It then cautioned that anyone found doing so would be responsible for any action taken against him/her by the people, including the resulting consequences.
It fur-ther appealed to the community leaders to help the person(s) involved understand gravity of the matter and work together to prevent further aggravation of the situation.
